Hi there,
As you probably know, Britain is not famed for good food. There ARE good places to eat, but there are also a lot of horrible (and expensive!) places to eat; you have to make an effort to locate the good places. Therefore, I thought it would be useful to have a section on our blog for us to exchange recommendations about places where good food can be found. I'd like to start by recommending "The Soup Kitchen", because Irina mentioned yesterday that Russians love soup! It's located in Manchester's Northern Quarter, actually it's just around the corner from where we are having our excursion to The Police Museum tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon, so I'll show you where it is then. You can find out more about it on the "links" below, double click on the left button on your mouse and you will directly through to that website.
I look forward to you posting more recommendations on this page!
Caroline

From personal experience: never go for dinner to the pizzerias in Oxford St (which are not far from the hotel). The food might be good but you might spend half an hour to explain what you want and it still might be in vain:) instead of black coffee you'd get white tea:) and a very friendly Indian'd invite you to come again... in broken English:)
hello
I haven't eaten anything in cafes yet but I'll do my best, be sure.
But the breakfast in the hotel was very tasty and delicious.
There are some nice places to eat in Withington which isn't far from your hotel, about 5 minutes by bus. Instead of catching the bus towards the city centre, catch one going away (check that it stops in Withington), ask the driver or another passenger to tell you when to get off. The two restaurants in Withington which I like are - "Fuel" or "Soloman Grundy".
Also, if you stay on the bus for a bit longer you get to a really nice area called Didsbury village. Here you can find some nice restaurants, cafes and shops (I recommend Oxfam, you can buy some really good second hand books there). A little further down the road there is a FANTASTIC park called Fletcher Moss, and nearby there is a really nice pub called "The Didsbury", there is a beer garden which is very pleasant when the weather is good!
Thank you for your reccomendations. I'll use them obligatory.
'Fuel' - what a nice name!
Yesterday, We were in a pub and ate burgers. The meat was tasy and I ate all the vegetables from it but i was not able to eat the buns. Sorry
:)
Yesterday we went to Thay Banana restaurant which was recommended by the first group. We liked both the food and the atmosphere there though the portions are too big.
Caroline,
thank you for recommending "Oklahoma" and "Fuel", i liked both:)
as one of us has said "a person who likes these places must have the Beatles spirit".
i regard this as the best compliment:)
